When rhyming over either the Prince Paul or Pete Rock-produced tracks, Groove B Chill give the impression that they can hang with the best of them but on their self-produced numbers it becomes clear that they simply weren't up to the task. Fortunately, each of these groups as well as Groove B Chill were blessed with great production and ultimately that's what makes Starting From Zero even comparable to the classic debuts by the groups listed above. Carefree and often downright silly rhymes about girls and high school dominated releases by De La Soul, the Jungle Brothers and A Tribe Called Quest.
